Ferrochrome used to be added in the later stage of steelmaking as the alloy additive, to smelt the low-carbon steel such as stainless steel must use the low or micro-carbon ferrochrome, therefore, the production of refined ferrochrome once achieved large-scale development. Due to the improvement of the steelmaking process, now when use the AOD method to produce the steel such as stainless steel, commonly use the carbon ferrochrome load furnace, therefore, only need to add low-carbon or micro-carbon ferrochrome to adjust the composition in the later stage, so now the focus of ferrochrom production is to smelt the carbon ferrochrome. For the carbon ferrochrome, it always smelt in a reduction furnace,using the coke as reducing agent,silica or bauxite as a flux.
